The Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program is an 11-week summer program that brings rising college seniors and recent college graduates to Washington, D.C., where they are placed in congressional offices and learn about health policy issues, with a focus on issues affecting racial and ethnic minority and underserved communities. Through the program, Scholars gain knowledge about federal legislative procedure and health policy issues, while further developing their critical thinking and leadership skills. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 16, 2011.
The Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program has four main components: 1) orientation, 2) a congressional placement, 3) site visits, and 4) the writing sessions and presentation. For many Scholars, one of the most rewarding parts of the program is getting to know their fellow classmates.
