Want one credit? Small class size? Try an Intergroup Dialogue Program!

The Words of Engagement Intergroup Dialogue Program (WEIDP) offers 7-week, one credit course where students from different social identity groups who have potential for conflict engage in dialogue about difficult issues and attempt to build bridges across groups. The class structure is intimate - usually no more than 14 students and led by skilled and thoughtful facilitators.

Schedule of dialogues for Spring 2012 is:

First seven weeks
EDHI 338C: Men/Women (Sec 0101) (Thu(s), Jan 26 - Mar 8)
EDHI 338G: Interfaith/Secular (Sec 0101) (Wed(s), Jan 25 - March 7)
EDHI 338N: Sexual Identity (LGBTQ/Heterosexual)(Sec 0101) (Mon(s), Jan 30 - March 12)
EDHI 338P: Emergent Theme (Sec 0101) (Tue(s), Jan 31 - March 13)

Second Seven Weeks
EDHI 338A: People of Color/ White People (Sec 0201) (Mondays, March 26 - May 7)
EDHI 338G: Interfaith/Secular (Sec 0201) (Tuesdays, March 27 - May 8)
EDHI 338K: Socioeconomic Class (Sec 0201) (Wednesdays, March 28 - May 9)

All dialogues are held in 2411C Marie Mount Hall and are scheduled from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.

Also we are offering EDHI 498I (0101) "Learning About Cultural Diversity: US/India International Dialogue" in Spring 2012 (Wed 9 am - 12 pm).
This 3-credit course seeks to develop skills for communicating across differences in an international context. During this semester, students from the University of Maryland will engage in class readings, assignments, and informed dialogue with students from the Jaypee University of Information Technology in India via video conferencing technology.
