To further the study of Israel in an academic perspective, the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies is sponsoring a contest for the best University of Maryland student paper on modern Israel, written in the Fall 2011 semester. Students are invited to submit academic essays of a variety of kinds—review essays, research papers, textual studies—with a focus on Israeli politics, society, or culture.
Students with an academic interest in Israel are encouraged to enter. The Israel Essay Contest is open to all undergraduate & graduate students registered at University of Maryland College Park during the current Fall 2011 semester. All essays must be submitted by midnight EST, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 to: email@example.com.
Essay Contest Prize:
One roundtrip, economy-class, airfare ticket to Israel. Airfare must be redeemed by December 31, 2012.
Airfare cost must NOT exceed $1,500 USD, including all applicable surcharges and taxes. Essays will be added to the Gildenhorn Institute’s website (if author authorizes).
