The Department of Geographical Sciences is sponsoring and hosting a day of activites, lectures and 'open houses' designed to showcase how faculty and researchers are using geographic information systems (GIS) technology to change, and save, our world.
GIS technology is used in a very wide range of industries, research and fields - including mobile technology, public health, mapping, emergency management, transportation and solar energy. Below is a listing of the events scheduled for GIS Day 2012 at the University of Maryland. We encourage you to attend as many activites as possible to learn about how this amazing technology is utilized!
