The essay contest asks UMD students to write an essay about why Maryland should keep college affordable. A panel of staff members and students will select the top 3 submissions, whose authors will win a semester's worth of textbooks, two tickets to the Maryland vs. Duke basketball game in the Athletic Director's suite, or an iPad 2. The essays will be consolidated and put into a book, a copy of which will be distributed to each Maryland state delegate and senator before they make decisions about tuition rates for next year. You can find more details here: http://www.mdsga.com/marylandinvests.
This contest has the potential to make a huge difference, but they need students who are willing to share their stories in order to have a meaningful impact. Go get 'em Terps!
