Mark Those Calendars! SPH Presents a Lecture on Household Pollutants

“Household Air Pollution, Climate Change and Burden of Disease” - a Council on the Environment lecture featuring Dr. Amir Sapkota

The UMD Council on the Environment and School of Public Health invite you to attend a lecture honoring Dr. Amir Sapkota, the first annual ConE Junior Faculty Award winner. Criteria for the ConE Junior Faculty Award is given to a faculty member for “outstanding accomplishments over the previous three to five years that have raised the profile and visibility of the university through specific contributions to environmental issues, through student impact, collaboration with external organizations and extraordinary service pursuits.” 

Dr. Sapkota's primary research interest lies at the interface of exposure assessment and environmental epidemiology, focusing on quantifying individual-level exposures to combustion-related household air pollutants that are known to cause numerous adverse health outcomes as well as contribute substantially to the global inventory of greenhouse gas emissions.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 4:30pm in room 1402 of the Chemistry Building. A reception will follow immediately afterwards.
