Are You a Pell Grant Recipient? A Gilman Can Help Finance Study Abroad!

Are you thinking about studying abroad or interning abroad in spring of 2015 or later? Are you a US citizen receiving a Pell grant (a federal need-based educational grant)?

The Gilman International Scholarship provides up to $5,000 for study abroad for students with financial need who receive Pell grants.  In the past three years more than 90 Maryland students have won Gilman scholarships!

Eligibility Requirements: 
  • US citizens 
  • Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors
  • All majors 
  • Must be studying abroad for at least four weeks 
  • Must have FAFSA demonstrated financial need and be receiving a Pell grant.

Application Deadline: October 7, 2014 This is the deadline to apply for scholarships for study abroad programs for spring semester 2015.  


The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers 1,700 scholarships of up to $5,000 to students of limited financial means to pursue academic studies world-wide. Such international study is intended to better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world.
