DEPARTMENT: Brand and Digital Innovation
STATUS: Freelancer/Contractor (through June 30, 2015)
**The individual selected for this role will not be directly employed by PBS. The incumbent will be hired by Maslow Media Group and assigned to work on this project for PBS.
PBS is looking for an innovative, up & coming Preditor to work in the Brand & Digital Innovations area of PBS Marketing and Communications. The Preditor (producer/ writer/editor) will be responsible for conceptualizing, writing, producing and editing short and long-form video elements for social, online and on-air use (including, for example, Vine, Instagram and other video venues, as needed). Demonstrated innovation and creativity are key to this position. Must have previous experience in video production with a proven ability to write and produce.
Conceptualize, write, produce and edit creative, engaging video pieces that are appropriate for the project, the brand and the audience
Push the envelope of what digital video can do on social media platforms and in online environments
Partner with creative team members and other departments to ideate, brainstorm and develop creative around various campaigns and programming initiatives
Assist on production shoots when needed
Research, screen and log, build clip reels, select music and other tasks as needed
Be diligent in maintaining a solid familiarity with the programming and graphics packages of PBS to ensure proper visual treatments are being applied
Maintain thorough communication with the Senior Director to ensure schedule and deadlines are being met; report changes, raise necessary flags and convey delays so issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner
Be thorough in the post-production process and be able to spot minor inconsistencies
Demonstrate ability to multitask and to constantly track loose ends and report issues to the appropriate parties
Create series trailers, sizzle reels, and animated GIFs for social platforms
Function as an integral member of the PBS Marketing & Communications team
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
2+ years’ experience producing, writing & editing video for an online, social or media brand and/or agency
MINIMUM SKILLS/EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Deep and demonstrated knowledge of current social media technologies and platforms
Must have online editing experience with Final Cut Pro
Copywriting and visual storytelling skills are required
Must have excellent knowledge of the video, audio & graphic post-production process
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
