Part-Time Paid Internship for French Speaker with International Experience

Population Services International (PSI) seeks a part-time paid Washington, DC-based intern able to work 20-25 hours/week to support the West and Central Africa (WCA) Department. This internship provides an opportunity to work with PSI staff on a variety of projects in international social marketing, international development, and public health. PSI offers flexible working hours and a dynamic, creative, and progressive work environment.

The WCA Intern will have a variety of duties and will work on a variety of projects related to supporting PSI’s activities.
  • Edit and format reports and other project or presentation documentation
  • Assist in financial reconciliations for invoices and expenses
  • Assist with travel arrangements including visas and expense report preparation
  • Coordinate the logistics of overseas staff as needed
  • Facilitate regional exchanges
  • Track product sales and health impact on a monthly basis
  • Update monthly financial tracking reports
  • Respond to internal and external requests for information
  • Organize departmental events
  • Translate material from French to English
  • Fulfill other programmatic, administrative and financial functions as required

We want someone who:
  • Has at least 2 years work or internship experience (some international experience preferred)
  • Has excellent organization and administrative skills with special attention to detail
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to work independently and on a team in a cooperative, problem-solving capacity
  • Has excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills
  • Brings experience with budgeting or other substantial experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Can multitask and prioritize multiple tasks based on deadlines
  • Speaks advanced French
  • Is interested in international health and development issues
