Purchasing Internship with Volkswagen Group of America in Herndon

The main responsibilities of the Purchasing Internship will include adhering to Volkswagen Group of America Purchasing process, and learning and understanding intercultural diversity in business. You will help implement the competitive bid process according to VW Group Global Sourcing, and review qualifications of potential and current suppliers to determine capabilities. Finally you will evaluate competitive bids, negotiate terms and pricing.
  • Learn and maintain filing system for Audit purposes
  • Implement Bidding & Negotiation processes
  • Attend Meetings to familiarize yourself with business environment
  • Create Comparative Spreadsheets for Buyer Presentations
  • Issue Purchase Orders under $50,000 (B/C-Parts)
  • Assist suppliers with registration process on database
  • Attend video conference presentations to VWoA and VWAG Purchasing as necessary


  • Must be enrolled at a university/college or graduation date must be within the last six months
