Summer Internship with Share our Strength

Job Description

Primary responsibilities will be to support the communications team, including public relations support, media list building, media monitoring, content editing, event planning and attendance, and research. This position will also help with ongoing political advocacy around child nutrition programs and local communications efforts around new No Kid Hungry communities.
  • Building and updating media lists.
  • Compiling media reports and metrics.
  • Drafting press releases, blog posts and other content.
  • Assist with pitching stories to media.
  • Organize and inventory department collateral.
  • Monitoring political news and activity surrounding child nutrition issues.
  • Provide additional public relations and digital communications support as necessary.
Required Skills

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with Cision Point media monitoring is a plus.
  • Fluency with social media platform desired.
  • Strong writing, researching and editing skills.
  • Hill or political experience is a plus.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and implementation skills.
  • Must be proactive, willing to learn and a self-starter.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to maintain strong professional relationships with a range of groups, volunteers, and associates both in person and by writing/phone.
