Summer Temporary Office Assistant Position with Daughters of the American Revolution

The Office of the Reporter General at the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is seeking a motivated individual interested in gaining office/clerical experience in a nonprofit/membership setting. This temporary assignment will focus on assisting the Committee Services staff and volunteers in preparing for DAR's Annual Meeting, known as Continental Congress. This position reports directly to the Manager of the Office of the Reporter General.

Primary duties:
The incumbent will be responsible for gathering and organizing certificate requests submitted by the national chairmen and reformatting these requests (generally in Excel format); importing and entering these committee requests into an Access database and inputting data for mail merge to produce certificates; organizing certificates and distributing to members during Congress; responding to correspondence by e-mail following Congress; addressing needed certificate corrections and verifying receipts; other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Close attention to detail is crucial; must demonstrate strong competency in Excel, Word, and Access, including text formatting, data entry, mail merge, and labels. Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills required. The ability to be deadline-oriented and able to work effectively under time constraints is essential. The ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively and adapt to changing priorities is very important. The individual should also demonstrate excellent organizational skills.

Employment or Internship Duration:
June 1st through June 27th 2015. Work hours approximately 20 to 30 hours per week (Monday through Friday), from June 1st through June 12th, and full-time, 40 hours during the week of June 15th through Saturday, June 27th (during the week of NSDAR's annual convention). Daily work hours are flexible. Salary is $10.00 - $12.00 per hour.
