Paid Summer Government Relations Internship

The Furman Group provides government relations and specialized consulting services to public agencies and private entities in the target areas of water and sanitation infrastructure and water-related regulatory matters.
The Furman Group seeks a bright, highly motivated student for a part-time, paid internship this summer. The position will be a 20 to 30 hours per week commitment and will start in mid-June and end before August recess.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending Congressional hearings and provide executive summaries
- Monitoring key legislative developments
- Assisting the Vice President with targeted research
- Analyzing and tracking social media as it pertains to our current clients and potential clients
- Preparing reports on grants and programs that would apply to our clients
- Aiding in the grant writing process
- Administrative tasks, as needed
- Monitoring media outlets for news on water infrastructure and providing summaries of pertinent articles
Requirements include:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time wisely, juggle multiple projects, and work well in a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – namely Word, Power Point, and Excel – as well as social media platforms
- Acute attention to detail
- Ability to summarize large amounts of information down to the most important elements
- Experience on the Hill preferred
