Program Assistant Position with the German Marshall Fund of the United States

Position description

The Foreign and Security Policy (FSP) Program in Washington, DC seeks an energetic, detail-oriented full-time Program Assistant to work on various projects.
The Program Assistant will support GMF’s Foreign and Security Policy Program’s day-to-day activities.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Provide logistical, scheduling, and event coordination and support;
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for GMF’s Washington-based convening
  • Research as needed;
  • Prepare event memos and reports as needed;
  • Answer general program questions and facilitate internal office coordination across programs;
  • Coordinate travel arrangements;
  • Maintain the InterAction database;
  • Draft invites and write-ups for GMF events in Washington, DC;
  • Assist in the management of GMF’s FSP DC internship program;
  • Assist in the implementation and management of GMF DC’s Young Transatlantic Network;
  • Assist in budget and financial management

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English. Second language skills are desirable but not necessary.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential.
  • Flexibility to multi-task, have an eye for details, perform under tight deadlines and able to work independently.
  • Experience in event management a plus.
  • Strong interest in transatlantic policy issues.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
