Program Coordinator Position for Recent Grad with American Institute for Contemporary German Studies

The American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) is seeking a Program Coordinator to manage its seminars, workshops, conferences, and symposia within the three program areas (Foreign & Domestic Policy; Society, Culture & Politics, Business & Economics) that take place in Germany and the U.S.
Position Description:
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of all Institute events. He/she assists with the implementation of AICGS projects and manages the logistical and administrative aspects of the events, including recruitment of participants, preparing and sending invitations, announcing the events on the AICGS website and Internet, arranging venues, catering, site visits and participants' travel, and conducting post-event follow-up. The Program Coordinator works closely with the Senior Research Associate as well as the Program Directors on all events.

Qualifications:

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations or a related field with an interest in and knowledge of Germany's political, cultural, and economic affairs. Event management and database experience is a prerequisite for the position. The candidate must have strong organizational, communications (written/verbal), management, and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel). Knowledge of the German language is strongly desired.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, efficient, extremely well-organized, independent, hard-working, and reliable. The candidate must be flexible to perform the diverse range of tasks required of a small organization and enjoy working in a small team. He/she must have strong interpersonal skills, take initiative, demonstrate innovative thinking, and be able to establish and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and constituents.
