The program duration is one year and upon successful completion of the program requirements, the incumbent may be converted to a term, career or career conditional position.

Operating nuclear facilities, science laboratories, power marketing administrations, and environmental clean-up sites in 35 states, DOE is responsible for many accomplishments in fields including alternate fuels vehicles, biological and environmental research, energy efficiency, nuclear security and non-proliferation, clean power technologies, medical technologies, gene research, and computer and microelectronics.
The incumbent will serve as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant in a small organization (approximately 280 employees). The incumbent will provide support to the HR Specialists through the use of HR information systems in the delivery of HR services. The incumbent will be responsible for the on-boarding of all newly hired employees and serve as a liaison with the Department on retirement processing. The incumbent also serves as the official custodian of the electronic Official Personnel Files (eOPFs) and will be responsible for records management for HR operations.
