Internships with the Committee for Economic Development

The Committee for Economic Development in Washington, DC has two internship positions starting next month:

Communications Intern

Reports to: Communications Manager
Department: Outreach
Classification: Intern

The Communications Intern will assist the Communications Manager in implementing promotional initiatives directed to CED Members, the media, and the public. This is a 12-week internship that extends from November 1, 2015 to February 28, 2016. If mutually agreed upon, the internship could extend beyond February.
Essential Functions:
1. Compile policy articles to promote on CED’s social media channels.
2. Draft promotional materials for CED’s signature policy conferences and awards dinners.
3. Complete administrative tasks (e.g., processing invoices, tracking RSVPs) pertaining to communications.
4. Assist in tracking metrics for CED’s website and social media channels.
5. Assist in maintaining the website by posting recent CED material. 
Skills/Qualifications:
Required:
• Current undergraduate student
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects within specified time-frames
• Strong understanding of social media
• Basic design program capabilities
• Strong understanding of public policy

Development Intern
Reports to: Vice President of External Relations
Department: Development
Classification: Intern
Summary:
The Development Intern will assist the Vice President of External Relations in implementing CED's overall strategic fundraising and organizational advancement initiatives. The Development Intern is responsible for assisting with grant writing, donor prospecting, fundraising initiatives and events, direct mail appeals, and donor management and acknowledgments. This is a 12-week internship that extends from November 1, 2015 to February 28, 2016. If mutually agreed upon, the internship could extend beyond February.  
Essential Functions:
1. Research potential donors pertaining to the general fundraising campaign and the Annual Dinner. Research foundations for CED project support
2. Assist in all fundraising aspects of the Annual Dinner including: research potential Awardees, prepare and disseminate the invitations and solicitations for sponsorship, track RSVPs, manage the contact database, and provide support at the event.
3. Develop and implement fundraising and outreach events and innovative initiatives
4. Assist in the organizing, planning and convening of fundraising and community events
5. Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and actively support all fundraising events
Skills/Qualifications:
Required:
• Current undergraduate or Graduate Student
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects within specified time-frames and multi-task various assignments
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
