Paid Spring Internship: AmeriCorps Alums Strategy Intern

AmeriCorps Alums (Alums): AmeriCorps Alums is the only national network that connects the nearly 1 million alumni of all AmeriCorps programs (including an estimated 80,000 new alumni each year). Position Summary: AmeriCorps Alums is seeking highly qualified and committed individuals to support the strategic growth of the organization. Interns will work in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment, supporting the organization’s leadership at the highest levels. Project areas will be scoped based on each intern's interests and expertise, and could include: fundraising, research, event planning (including event in DC and our online professional development series), business development and stakeholder engagement (internal and external communications, digital strategy). In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to participate in departmental and organizational staff meetings, network with industry leaders, attend webinars and trainings as well as contribute to thought leadership and practice in the sector.

Time Commitment: 20 Hours per Week

Expected Start Date: February/March 2016 (start date flexible)

Duration: 3 months (with possibility of extension)
QUALIFICATIONS

• Monthly Stipend of $500
Qualifications:
• Very strong research and writing ability.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required.
• Customer-orientation and sound judgment; ability to consistently demonstrate a professional manner in dealing with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.
• Hard-working and good-spirited under pressure and under tight deadlines, juggling multiple competing tasks and prioritizing demands; ability to self-start and troubleshoot without supervision; ability to work independently and in teams in a small office environment.
• Strong motivation to learn and contribute to the organization’s mission; familiarity with government and nonprofit enterprises is a plus.
• Mission driven; commitment to strengthening our communities and our country.
• Project Management skills a plus.
• Students with a concentration in policy, public administration, education or other relevant discipline, Graduate students preferred, Undergraduate students considered.
• AmeriCorps Alums preferred.
