Apply by May 12 for Gender & Elections Internship in Arlington with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems

Project Description:
IFES works to promote equal rights, justice and political participation for women around the world.  The Gender and Elections intern will work closely with the Senior Gender Specialist and Gender Program Officer on new initiatives that will require outreach to global gender and elections experts and IFES field offices.  The intern will also be involved in programmatic and administrative aspects of IFES’ Gender Working Group.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the IFES Senior Gender Specialist and Gender Program Officer, the Gender and Elections Intern will be responsible for: 
  • Maintaining IFES’ gender community of practice and communicating to IFES field offices to involve interested staff;
  • Providing project management support for global gender programs;
  • Conducting research related to gender and elections and women’s political participation;
  • Providing logistical and administrative support to the Gender Working Group;
  • Attending and reporting on internal and external meetings related to gender issues;
  • Providing social media support; and
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Gender Specialist.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited university studying political science, international relations, gender studies, or related focus area (college credit required);
  • Interest in Gender and Elections issues (relevant experience a plus);
  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills; and
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel.
