National Park Service Centennial Ambassador Internships Starting in May! (With Stipend)

The Centennial Volunteer Ambassador position is 52 weeks long and will support designated park units around our nation in expanding service-learning, service and community engagement programs and activities at those parks/units.  Interns will work with the Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program and assist in the development of work plans to help support and increase community learning experiences through service.  Coordinating service projects and activities with the guidance of park management.  Hosting national events that provide the opportunity to increase the number of people getting involved in hands-on service project incorporated in national stewardship events (i.e. Earth Day, National Trails Day, National Public Lands Day, Martin L. King Day of Service, etc.). Developing local annual events where a service component could easily be incorporated into planned activities.  Supporting recurring group service opportunities like trail maintenance, operations and deferred maintenance of developed recreation sites, landscape maintenance, habitat and vegetation management, and watershed restoration. Utilizing traditional and social media for outreach to build connections in the communities surrounding parks, and to draw community members to the park/unit.

Due to funding, this program is restricted to applicants who will be 18-35 at the start of the internship.
  • 85 internships are available in the VIP program of national parks, historical sites, recreation areas, and parkways throughout the US. Most internships will be based in urban areas.
  • Expense paid week long orientation will be provided, including VIP program coordination.
