Plan International Business Development Internship

Plan International USA is seeking a Business Development Intern with interest and/or experience in international development to help support activities in developing new business with US government donors. The primary responsibilities of this position include providing proposal development support, synthesizing program information to highlight Plan’s programmatic capacity, and assisting with the maintenance of knowledge management systems.

Plan International USA is a non-profit, child-focused community development organization without religious, political, or governmental affiliation. Founded in 1937, Plan presently works in 50 developing countries. Resources for our community development programming are generated through individual child sponsorships, corporations and foundations, and project grant funding from bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors – including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Global Fund.
Job Summary
The Business Development Intern will:
· Participate in the implementation of proposal-specific action plans, including supporting preparation of proposal annex documentation.
· Collect and synthesize program information to develop proposal-specific past performance references and capacity statements.
· Conduct country-specific research on USG projects and funding landscape.
· Support the maintenance of knowledge management systems and assist with data migration, as needed.
· Provide research support for literature reviews in a variety of technical sectors for upcoming proposals and program design, as needed.
· Support recruitment efforts, including searching for passive candidates, drafting job descriptions, and maintaining electronic filing systems.
· Schedule interviews, format CVs, and collect relevant paperwork from candidates.
· Other activities to encourage learning and career development processes, as agreed by intern and supervisor.
Skills, Technical Knowledge and Qualifications
Required
· A demonstrated commitment to the mission of Plan.
· Undergraduate-level coursework completed in related field (i.e. BA or equivalent in progress).
· Demonstrated ability to conduct research, produce written technical papers, and synthesize large amounts of information in a concise way.
· Proficiency in the use of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Desired
· BA or equivalent in international relations, international development, or related field
· Graduate-level coursework completed in related field (i.e. MA or equivalent in progress).
· One to three years of experience designing and/or implementing international development projects.
· Knowledge of grant/project development processes, including USAID-funded projects.
· Proficiency in written and spoken French

Additional Information
Terms
This is an unpaid internship and will be for 24 hours per week. No other benefits will be provided.
· Duration of the internship and hours worked per week can be negotiated.
· Credit for academic requirements may also be considered.
