Part-Time Position with Hola Cultura

Hola Cultura, a non-profit organization established to celebrate Latino culture, is hiring a part-time Operations Coordinator. This position is one of our only paid positions.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative support, meeting planning and logistics, and a small amount of bookkeeping. This is a telecommuting position located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Candidate must be willing to attend frequent coordinating meetings in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
  • Organize and schedule meetings and provide support during meetings as needed
  • Provide clerical assistance to Board Members and Managing Director as needed
  • Support the efficient operation of the organization, including organizing files, tracking important compliance deadlines.
  • Process mail, invoices and checks
  • Answer general inquires in a professional manner
  • Order and manage supplies as needed
  • Record minutes for staff meetings
  • Run errands as necessary
    • Assist with planning and provide support at other HC events, such as the annual TamalFest DC and other key events
    • Based on skills, assist with social media and website updates to gain HC followers and to promote events and campaigns
    • Other administrative duties as needed
    • Provide administrative support to hiring processes
    • Assist in volunteer and intern on-boarding and off-boarding processes
    • Perform light bookkeeping using Quickbooks

  • Enthusiastic self-starter and proactive solution-oriented individual
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Quickbooks experience a plus
  • High-level of comfort contacting individuals by phone and email in a professional manner
  • Bilingual English and Spanish (written and oral)
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with a team
  • Long-term career interests in non-profit operations/administration
  • Able to start work in June 2016
This part-time position will start at 12 hours a week, compensated at a monthly salary of $1,000. Hours and salary may be increased based on performance and funding.Immediate opening; this position will start as soon as possible. This is a telework position from a location of your choosing in the greater D.C. area. The Operations Coordinator is expected to attend some weekday evening meetings, events, and conference calls. This position is currently funded through the end of September with the possibility for extension and growth.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about our mission and playing this key role in supporting the organization's work. Although we will consider candidates who already have other jobs, an ideal candidate will treat Hola Cultura as his or her top priority.
About Hola Cultura: Hola Cultura is a non-profit organization established to celebrate "Latino culture" in all of its grandeur and diversity. Hola Cultura recovers the memories of the Hispanic community of Washington through our webumentary videos and digital maps that document the presence of "el barrio" from the '40s through the present day. Hola Cultura organizes community events like our Annual TamalFest DC. Our research projects examine questions of community interest such as the impact of rising housing costs on minority communities. From the fine art of cooking to local teatro and international recording artists, Hola Cultura bridges Latino arts and humanities, and serves as a bridge across cultures and borders.
