Paid Internship with National Environmental Education Foundation

The Communications Intern is a six-month internship and is responsible for assisting the Communications Manager and Digital Marketing and Technology Manager on a variety of communications and public relations activities including digital communications, website updates, logistics, writing and social media.
Essential functions:
  • Assist in proof reading and editing NEEF publications, including newsletters, press releases, social media and Web content.
  • Update and provide additional website content and graphics.
  • Assist in writing for, managing and reporting on NEEF’s social media accounts.
  • Manage lists and run reports in NEEF CRM and email marketing system.
  • Assist in drafting communications materials through email marketing system.
  • Assist in creating and reporting on forms developed through email marketing system.
  • Prepare and help with media distribution.
  • Research, maintain and archive media clips and video files.
  • Videotape and photograph special events as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling and preparing media inquiries.
  • Assist with preparation of PowerPoint presentations.
  • Assist with preparation of annual report, communications plan and other documents.
  • Maintain communications and web calendars.
  • Participate in communications meetings.
  • Writing as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job specifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Bachelors or Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Background and interest in the environment, education or a relevant field.
  • Experience with communications, especially digital communications.
  • Possess an excellent understanding of social networking websites, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with different audiences.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. This includes sound judgment in communicating professionally and knowledge of formal business correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail and deadline management skills.
  • Demonstrate sound ability to follow guidance and complete tasks on-time and within budget
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with NEEF’s programs.
  • Motivation, desire to see projects through to completion and dependability a must.
  • Experience with photography and videography a plus.
  • The ability to work for 40 hours/week.

The internship pays $14/hour.
