Know Spanish? Program Assistant/Financial Associate with Latin America Working Group for Recent Grad
Design and implement social media campaigns and online grassroots outreach on Colombia, Central America, Cuba and other U.S. policies towards Latin America.
Write regular grassroots email alerts, blog posts, newsletter articles, and other content.
Maintain website campaign pages.
Help organize delegations of Latin American civil society leaders to Washington, DC to meet with policymakers and the public.
Organize conferences and national actions that engage activists across the country.
Assist with creation and distribution of educational/advocacy resources for the public and policymakers.
Help coordinate and organize strategy sessions with LAWG staff and LAWG participating organizations, including major human rights, faith-based, labor and environmental groups.
Assist in advocacy efforts with congressional offices and government agencies.
Conduct research and writing projects as assigned.
Supervise interns and work with other program assistants on joint projects.
Carry out daily financial activities, including paying bills, making deposits, preparing financial reports, processing monthly payroll, and responding to bookkeeper and accountant's requests.
Prepare for annual financial audit.
Act as liaison for our tech support consultants to handle technology problems or upgrades.
Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
Very strong writing skills with the ability to create materials for a variety of audiences, especially for the general public and grassroots advocates.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in Spanish, written and spoken, required.
Experience with and creative flair for social media, grassroots and online organizing.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to multitask required.
Familiarity with managing databases; experience with Quickbooks and Excel a plus.
Experience with website management and online advocacy tools (Salsa or Non-profit Soapbox experience a plus).
Knowledge of U.S. policy in Latin America and demonstrated commitment to peace, justice, and human rights in the region.
Diversity in abilities to work as part of a team, accept supervision, and take on tasks independently as needed.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Skills in video editing, graphic design, or HTML preferred but not required.
Bachelor's degree required along with 1-2 years work or internship experience.
Term: Two-year commitment required.
