The Department of Recreation is looking for an Administrative Specialist I to provide support for the Management Services Team. The employee will be accountable for providing administrative support for human resource functions, such as payroll, hiring, background screening, and record management. Additional functions will include supporting contract management which consists of maintaining compliance records, verifying vendor data in Oracle and with the State of Maryland, and reviewing vendor requests for payment. This position requires the handling of confidential documents and information.
Other duties include working directly with professional and para professional staff in the hiring and payroll processing of nearly 2,500 seasonal staff and hundreds of contractors and volunteers. Each year program schedules require the hiring and background investigations for nearly 800 seasonal employees. This position also assists with the processing of these employees. This employee monitors the preparation and processing of all necessary paperwork for hiring including State, County and federal documents,
HCM and MCtime processing. Each pay period between 500 and 2,000 MCtime transactions are processed.
NOTE: This work may require evening, weekend and holiday work.
The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee. Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.
Selected candidate will be required to complete a background investigation and medical evaluation prior to appointment.
