We are the only national nonprofit engaged in affordable housing preservation through real estate development, lending, and public policy initiatives. We believe safeguarding existing affordable homes is the essential first step in solving our nation’s housing dilemma.

We work on a broad array of issues as we safeguard and preserve affordable homes, including community revitalization, energy efficiency, renewable energy, transit-oriented development, and smart growth development.

NHT has an immediate opening for a full- or part-time paid policy intern with excellent organizational, research, and writing skills to assist the public policy team. Our intern will work on a variety of research and writing projects, including but not limited to:

• Developing and submitting relevant comments during public comment periods to state housing finance agencies.
• Updating our database of state & local affordable housing preservation policies, PrezCat.

Our intern must be dependable, flexible, independent and able to multi-task. He or she should be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products and have excellent communication skills. Commitment to policies affecting low-income people as well as a good sense of humor are required.
