Elections 2016: The Use and Impact of Social Media

The University Libraries will hold a forum on topics relating to the 2016 election, featuring an interdisciplinary panel discussion by three campus scholars. Professor Shawn Parry-Giles, Department of Communication, will compare the various political identities Hillary Clinton has featured in her campaign and over the course of her career. Professor Sarah Ann Oates, Philip Merrill College of Journalism, will look at the logic of candidate campaigns, social media and newspapers. Professor Wendy Moe, Robert H. Smith School of Business, will reveal how to make sense of social media data. Chuck Howell, librarian for Journalism and Communication Studies, will moderate the event. Lunch will be provided.
