Paid Summer Bioinformatics Internship

  • Current Undergraduate Student 
  • Entry level applicants strongly encouraged 
  • Some Biology or Computer Science coursework, or relevant experience 
  • Ability to work independently, while respecting the needs of a larger team 
  • A commitment to scientific discovery 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Full-time attendance (40 hours per week) 
What You Will Do:
  • Analyze multiple streams of related protein family homology data. 
  • Develop software to automate the analysis of this data 
    • Understand the data 
    • Discuss and collaborate on an appropriate software design 
    • Implement the software design  
  • Produce a work product that can serve as a code sample 
  • Work with our investigators and software engineers to refine your code sample 
  • Present your project at the end the session 
Interns will be paid hourly wages determined by their level of education. 

NOTE: In addition to hourly wages, this internship is designed to aid the intern in the production of a high-quality code sample. Along with prior internship experience, a high quality work product such as a research-quality code sample are two elements that are often critical to getting serious consideration in STEM fields. This internship is targeted at candidates who might otherwise have difficulty entering a STEM field, and aims to provide a leg-up in subsequent career development.  Apply here.
