Friday: "Cuba--Questioning Discourses of Normalization" (Free Day-long Colloquium)

When: Friday, March 10, 2017 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Where: Knight Hall, Richard Eaton Theater, Room 1208
Description: This conference will discuss culture and politics on the island through history and into the current moment of supposed "opening" and "normalization". How do various sides of the debate with the United States narrate the story of what is deviant or progressive? How do expectations affect cultural expression and production, as well as the real lives of Cuban? Participants will discuss the traffic of ideas surrounding these questions. Live Cuban music follows the academic event.
