Paid Summer Internship with Scottish Rite Supreme Council

The Supreme Council is currently seeking a team of energetic, self-motivated graduate and undergraduate students to serve as interns for museum tours and special events at its national headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The position requires strong interpersonal proficiency and skills in team based settings, a good work ethic, leadership skills and capacity for conveying a positive, professional and courteous image to the public about the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Skills include: Effective and tactful oral and written communication skills with a diverse public; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and/or individuals; ability to adapt and maintain flexibility under a variety of circumstances (tours, special events, etc.); present an upbeat attitude and work with minimum supervision; ability to perform multiple tasks; will serve as liaison to internal and external constituencies who are attending and/or hosting events; willing to show guests and visitors our small gift shop and conclude museum tours with possible gift shop sales; flexibility to work various shifts during the regular tour hours according to class schedule.

Hours: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday. Interns work a variety of shifts depending on their schedule. Some work 8 hours per week, others work up to 25 hours per week. Some work mornings, others afternoons, others full days. We are also open a few Saturdays for special arranged tours (rarely).

Work hours will be determined based on semester course schedule. Position will occasionally (very seldom) require evening hours for special events (notified well in advance). Students will normally work between 8 and 25 hours per week, but this will vary according to class load.

Interns will be paid $11.50 per hour and/or university credit (upon university approval).
