National Weather Service 2017 Summer Internship

Build your resume and gain valuable hands-on, professional communications experience by working in the media office at the National Weather Service, a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)!

Responsibilities include developing web story ideas, drafting press releases, interacting with journalists, writing social media posts and other special projects. Our interns are an integrated part of our team.

We are looking for a qualified college student of communications or related field to intern in the Office of Public Affairs for the 2017 summer semester. Interns
will gain a broad range of experience and skills in the areas of developing communication plans and strategies, working with a variety of media, feature and news writing, social media engagement, planning for and managing crisis communications, and the unique opportunity to see up close how a government communications office functions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong project follow through, who enjoys finding creative solutions. Strong writing skills are a must. Interest in science communication is a bonus!

This is a full-time, unpaid summer internship . Students must obtain an opportunity at your school to get academic credit for this internship.
