The Government Affairs Intern will be based in Washington, D.C. and will report to the Senior Director of Government Affairs, who is based in Washington, D.C. This position will include special projects to support the Government Affairs office, in addition to working on policy issues and advocacy efforts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
-Assist with the development of background materials for use in government affairs activities. -Provide effective policy issue research and recommendations on Company positions addressing a wide array of policy issues of importance to the Company. -Attend Capitol Hill hearings and other Congressional and industry meetings; provide appropriate reports and recommendations based upon participation at hearings and meetings. -Assist with content development and maintenance for Zimmer Biomet's Government Affairs website and other communication initiatives.

-Demonstrated interest in public policy issues and/or political process. -Demonstrated intermediate research skills employing various information management platforms to develop appropriate position recommendations. -Extremely organized, detail-oriented, with an ability to handle sensitive material with tact and confidentiality; operates with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion and judgment. -Highly motivated, results-oriented, self-starter with demonstrated ability to deliver results within strict time constraints. -Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credibility with both external partners and internal stakeholders at all levels of the Company including executive leadership and professional partnerships. -Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills which highlight excellent interpersonal skills using various formats (i.e., teleconferences, face-to-face meetings, presentations, written proposals, reports and correspondence). -Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
-Must be actively enrolled in an academic program for the entire duration of the assignment. -Pursuit of Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Political Science or applicable area required -GPA of 3.2+ Preferred
