Paid 3/4-Time Events Internship, Office Of Communications, Brookings Institution

This spring internship, beginning in January 2018, is a paid opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior year or senior year, recent college graduates or graduate students with an interest in events, communications or public policy.
This internship pays an hourly rate of $12.50, and is based on a 40 hour work week. Applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum number of hours per week (no less than 30 hours per week, during regular 9-5 business hours), with some flexibility around an academic course schedule. The internship is based in Washington, DC and will last approximately 10 weeks.


The intern will assist with staffing and preparing for daily public events at Brookings, which showcase Brookings scholars and top leaders from the U.S. and around the globe. Additional duties include: audience research and event outreach, data work and management of our contact database, editing event announcements and speaker bios, and completing other office duties as assigned.

In addition to their primary responsibilities, interns will have the opportunity to attend internal meetings, local think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events as well as participate on Brookings sports teams and network with other interns throughout the Institution.



Graduate or undergraduate students (who have completed their sophomore year) working towards a degree in communications, journalism, hospitality, political science, economics, international affairs or similar fields are eligible to apply. Recent college graduates are also eligible to apply.
We are looking for strong writing, problem-solving and organizational skills. Our best interns possess a fine attention to detail, enjoy a fast-paced environment, provide excellent customer service and are strong communicators.

Successful completion of a background investigation is required for interning at Brookings.
