About NextNOW Fest
NextNOW Fest is the university’s creative welcome and welcome back to new and returning students, as well as an open invitation to our friends and community. Started in 2014, the multi-day, multi-arts festival of fun and discovery features music, theatre, and dance performances, as well as immersive, technology-driven installations by artists from around campus and the country.

With attendance growing to 5,500, NextNOW Fest provides an exciting environment for students to build community, socialize with each other and engage with the arts on campus at the beginning of the school year. By offering memorable artistic experiences for students, The Clarice hopes to inspire involvement in creativity and the arts throughout their time at UMD and beyond, regardless of their major or focus of study.

NextNOW Fest 2018 marks the festival’s fifth year, and it takes place at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Its planning and execution is supported by The Clarice’s staff.
