Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas (CORA) is a UMD student org that provides opioid addiction prevention education and resources to rural counties across Maryland. Rural communities often have fewer resources for people battling addiction, and consequently, overdose rates are regularly as high as those in the cities. We are trying to correct this imbalance through educational modules, technology, research, and resources, and we are looking for new members to join our initiative! Our services are primarily meant to help educate community leaders and hold community-wide educational talks, as well as lower the barrier to access help for those who may need it.
The time commitment for members is about an hour a week, and all meetings are conducted over Zoom! If that sounds like something you’d be at all interested in volunteering your time for, please fill out this form: ter.ps/joincora. And if you have any questions or want to learn more, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org!
