Enterprise Advisors is the mission-based consultancy of Enterprise Community Partners Inc. focused on delivering capacity building and technical assistance in partnership with Federal agencies, units of local government, public housing authorities, nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and other sources. We are looking interns to support the following five focus areas :
- Housing Strategy and Implementation
- Public Housing Revisioning
- Socio-economic Development
- Incubation, Cultivation and Acceleration
- Business Processes/Operations
The department is seeking up to five interns for the 2021 Summer semester. The anticipated internship is approximately 30 hours per week at $15-25 per hour, depending on educational attainment, qualifications and experience. Applications are due by March 15, 2021. The Intern will provide support to the department in areas of data and spatial analysis; strategy and policy research; financial modeling; research on best practices; report writing; impact evaluation; and development of related housing or economic development toolkits to advance Advisors’ focus area platforms. Interns will report to a Director on Advisor’s Engagement Team. The position will be based in Washington, DC.
Requirements
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Minimum third year undergraduate student, or current graduate student, or recent masters graduate in relevant area (public administration/policy, urban planning, economics, social sciences, etc.)
- Interest in affordable housing, economic and community development, public housing, or civic engagement and fair housing
- Strong research and analytical skills, including both quantitative and qualitative research experiences, and familiarity with large public datasets (e.g. American Community Survey, property data, etc.)
- Strong ability to translate quantitative analysis into easy-to-understand, visually appealing formats
- General knowledge of local and state affordable housing policies and practices, including public housing and resident engagement
- Experience working collaboratively
- Experience with spatial analysis preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with mapping various market indicators and conditions, using GIS or similar, preferred
- Microsoft Word and Excel skills and familiarity with web-based research are required
Public Job Description
- Organize deliverables produced from consulting engagements
- Research housing or economic mobility and development policies, strategies, and various tools to support related planning efforts
- Support delivery of technical assistance, including support for webinars, trainings, toolkit development, or case study research
- Support internal business processes including contract management, data integration, and continuous business process improvements
- Conduct housing market analysis research using public datasets and prepare summary analysis
- Conduct comparative analysis of other communities or public housing agencies
- Analyze data sets and indicators of opportunity
- Research affordable housing policies, programs, and financing mechanisms to support strategy development
- Prepare maps using GIS or similar to illustrate market conditions
- Review inventories of affordable housing properties, including public housing
- Develop strategies to assist communities in responding to various market conditions
- Support meeting coordination, presentations, and related deliverables
- Take on new responsibilities as assigned.
