Immediately Hiring Part-Time Language Annotator at ARLIS

The University of Maryland Applied Research Lab for Intelligence and Security is immediately seeking applicants to assist on a full or part-time basis (up to 40 hours per week) providing English language support on an annotation project. The annotation task will use a specialized tool for marking spans of text (sequence of words) as names, events, and relations, all of specific types. For example, an event might be a financial transaction: a purchase, sale, or other payment.

We anticipate that annotation will start soon and will last for three or more months. Training and written guidelines will be provided, although it is expected that guidelines will require modification during the course of the annotation work. Remote work on this project is possible.

Requirements:

  • Fluent reading ability
  • Excellent English skills
  • Standard computer skills
  • Computer and internet access (to be used for remote work)
  • Attention to detail
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Previous annotation experience and/or coursework in linguistics (preferred).

For consideration, email Michael Maxwell (mmaxwell@arlis.umd.edu), and include a copy of a resume/CV.
