Center for Strategic and International Studies Japan Chair Part-Time Research Assistant Position for Recent Grad or Dual Degree Candidate
The CSIS Japan Chair seeks a part-time research assistant to work on a range of substantive and administrative activities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The research assistant will be expected to assume various responsibilities including policy-oriented research, project management, event planning and logistics, copyediting, program coordination, and administration.
The successful candidate will be a team player, possess excellent administrative, communication, research, and writing skills, and demonstrate a keen interest in Japan and the international relations of the Indo-Pacific region.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following
• Conduct research on a wide range of issues including Japanese foreign and security policy, U.S.-Japan relations, U.S. strategy in Asia, and other topics examined by the Japan Chair; • Support day-to-day management of Japan Chair research projects including but not necessarily limited to coordinating assignments and deadlines, editing and publishing written products, and meeting reporting requirements; • Assist senior program staff with event planning and logistics; • Perform other general tasks to support office functions.
• B.A. in International Relations, Political Science, or a related field; M.A. preferred. • Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to work well independently and in groups. • Oral proficiency in Japanese preferred.
