Energy & Sustainability Policy Internship (Summer 2023) with Panasonic - DC

Logistical Details:

  • The length of the internship is from late-May 2023 to late August 2023 with flexible start and end dates
  • Part-time role max 20 hours a week based in Washington DC flexible hybrid schedule

The Role:

Support implementation of internal carbon pricing assessment tool for corporate and manufacturing functions

Track ESG trends as they pertain to electric vehicles and manufacturing

Conduct mapping of current ESG metrics that multinational corporations are reporting against, including what standards bodies they are aligning with, which stakeholders are involved in the process, and to what extent this is influencing their core strategy

Map current ESG metrics to surface common frameworks and measurements, with a focus on international due diligence and sustainability reporting requirements

Capture best practices regarding supply chain due diligence and ESG reporting

Provide policy research related, but not limited to, the following areas human rights, EV battery manufacturing, minerals sourcing, supply chain management, decarbonization, and ESG reporting

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a degree in environmental management, business, analytics, foreign affairs, analytics or equivalent

Knowledge of and experience with data analysis and research in fields such as standards setting, ESG reporting, carbon accounting, and supply chain and human rights

Advanced Excel capabilities, experience with financial modeling

Familiarity with key stakeholders in EV battery manufacturing and supply chains

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to work independently and meet self-imposed deadlines and targets

Past professional experience in ESG analysis, corporate responsibility, climate, electric vehicles, or manufacturing preferred

Strong interest and or background in social and environmental impact

Fluent spoken and written English mandatory; proficiency in Japanese will be viewed favorably

Hourly Range: $17.00 - $38.00. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
